A visit to Alta Gracia from Sachs
A delegation of ZF Sachs representatives from various zones of the country arrived in Alta Gracia last Friday to visit the Oreste Berta S.A. plant.
Headed by Carlos Contini (Commercial Manager of ZF Sachs Argentina), the visitors were received by the company's Director, Brian Berta. Following the welcoming greetings, they proceeded to walk round the workshops. The tour ended with a look at the Gastón Perkins Test Track, where the visitors had their photograph taken alongside the TC2000 Focus, and were then driven round the track aboard the Focus RS driven by "Josito" Di Palma.
Towards the end, and during a luncheon, Oreste Berta (son) joined the group so as to interchange opinions referred to their impressions corresponding to the visit.

Opening of the Test Track
Oreste Berta S.A. officially opened its Test Track, named after Gastón Perkins.
Tuesday, February 27th will always be a special date for a company which is among the most important ones in Latin America. Authorities, guests, friends and media people from all over the country witnessed one more step ahead of Oreste Berta and his never ending quest for progress. Together with Oreste were his sons, Brian, Director of Berta S.A., and “Orestito”, Head of Berta Motorsport.
The Track.
It was not only built for Oreste Berta S.A. or for its present or future teams, it was diagrammed for motor racing and for the entire car manufacturing industry. According to Oreste, it was made so as to offer a service to the automobile. One example of this type of projects is the Rolling Road dynamometre (the best in South America, and possible the best-installed and functioning one in the world) which is used by most of the teams of any road-racing or rally division of the country, and also for testing street cars. Its main objective points towards being a development centre in what refers to safety and performance of vehicles.
The area in which the track is located is of 3,5 hectares, with a total surface of 10.420 m2 and a length of 700 metres, with a surface formed by high-resistant asphalt and a sector made of cement. The track also has its own pits, a control room, a terrace with accommodation for spectators, and an artificial and adjustable rain system, among other features.
Opinions
Oreste Berta: “I am very happy to be able to present this track. Nearly two years ago we began working on it because it is something that was really needed. It is the only one of its type in the country, and to see it completed is very satisfying for me.”
Brian Berta [Director of Berta S.A.]: “The only term to go with all this is ‘happiness’. To see that new projects come up and the company does not cease growing is very gratifying. Without any doubt, this track is going to be very important for the development of the Argentine motor racing.”
